PODCASTS

From long-form interviews to spontaneous late-night conversations, I’ve joined a number of podcasts over the years to talk about literature, translation, writing, and the strange paths in between.

Please find a selection of podcast episodes I’ve been part of below.

ARIADNE’NİN İPİ (EPISODE 2) – 2025

In this follow-up episode, we took a deep dive into my writing process: where inspiration comes from, where it stalls, and what it means to wrestle with the blank page.

We talked about writing as a form of discovery, resistance, and sometimes, reckoning. From daily routines to creative blocks, this conversation maps the interior terrain of writing—and might resonate especially with those navigating their own path through it.

ARIADNE’NİN İPİ (EPISODE 1) – 2025

In this episode of Ariadne’nin İpi, we talk through the layered world of translation—where creativity meets technical precision. I shared how I approach choosing books, working with publishers, and navigating the challenges that come with translating cult classics like William Gibson’s Neuromancer and David Foster Wallace’s Infinite Jest.

We also explored what makes translation an act of authorship in its own right, and how my academic path shaped the choices I made along the way.

AÇIK RADYO ŞENLİĞİ – 2025

Taner Turna and I joined İlksen Mavituna for Açık Radyo’s annual Radyo Şenliği—to support the station, celebrate its community, and stand behind the belief that “those who insist on doing honorable work should live and thrive.”

OMELAS (AÇIK RADYO) – 2024

I was a guest on Açık Radyo’s Omelas, a program dedicated to science fiction in all its forms, hosted by Jülide Kayaş and İsmail Yamanol.

We talked about the overlaps and tensions between writing and translating sci-fi—what it means to build worlds from scratch versus carrying them across languages. The conversation touched on my translations of authors like Philip Roth, Jack Kerouac, Alan Moore, and Bram Stoker, as well as my own novels, Tepemizdeki Gölge and IDÜK.

KIYMIK PODCAST – 2024

In this episode of Kıymık, I joined the conversation to talk about one of literature’s most underrepresented genres in Turkey: science fiction.

We explored how my novels Tepemizdeki Gölge and IDÜK came to life—ideas, processes, detours—and naturally, we couldn’t resist diving deep into some good old geek talk along the way.

BEN BURADAN OKUYORUM (AÇIK RADYO) – 2023

I was a guest on Açık Radyo’s Ben Buradan Okuyorum, where we dove into the world of gothic literature.

In this episode, we talked about the dark, enduring power of classics like Frankenstein and Dracula—how they’ve shaped the genre, what they say about fear, desire, and the unknown, and why they continue to resonate today.

R PLANI – Episode 07: Well-being and Scientific Thinking – 2023

In this episode of R Planı, moderated by Bilim Virüsü’s Mürvet Çırpan, I joined as a guest alongside high school student Ilgın Su Çiftçi.

We explored what scientific thinking really means—why it matters, how it connects to critical thinking, and whether it can help us generate more grounded, hopeful thoughts in the face of uncertainty. The conversation touched on personal growth, resilience, and how a scientific mindset might support our well-being, especially for younger generations.

İKİNCİ MESLEĞİM – 2022

I joined the 12th episode of İkinci Mesleğim, a podcast that explores the stories of people who’ve shifted paths and embraced a second profession.

We talked about the turning points in my own journey—how I left law school behind, and what it really means to start over by choosing literature, translation, and writing as a way of life.

WITH MUGE TURAN ON TEPEMİZDEKİ GÖLGE – 2020

In this episode, I sat down with Müge Turan—film curator at Istanbul Modern—for a conversation about my novel Tepemizdeki Gölge, published by Alfa Kitap. We talked about Mehmet Kunduracı, our very average yet very confused protagonist; about sci-fi, satire, and the quiet absurdities of modern life; and about the literary echoes that shaped the book—from Vonnegut to Svevo.
