Occasionally, I write essays and pieces that fall outside of fiction—on culture, language, gender, and the blurry edges of public life. These writings often begin as questions I can’t quite shake.
Please find below a list of articles and essays I’ve published.
“0 ile 1 Arasında: The Leftovers ve Birisini Kaybetmek” – 2025
In this essay, I reflect on The Leftovers—Damon Lindelof and Tom Perrotta’s haunting television series—and how it helped me process the loss of my mother. It’s about silence, absence, the limits of language, and what it means to continue living in the company of the missing.

“Şu Anda, Birisi, Bir Yerde” – 2025
A poetic meditation on simultaneity, intimacy, and the unknowable breadth of human experience. In this experimental piece, I wrote in pulses and images—tracing the invisible threads that link a laughing stranger, a silent decision, a remembered friend, and the pain of unspeakable violence. A fragmentary portrait of everything happening at once.

“Bir Sevme Biçiminin Anatomisi: Ursula K. Le Guin’i Neden ve Nasıl Seviyoruz?” – 2025
Another Vesaire piece, this one explores the particular way Le Guin is loved—gently, reverently, often desexed—and what that says about gender, reception, and literary desire.

“Infinite Jest Oldu: Bitmeyen Bir Kitabın Biteyazan Çevirisi Üzerine” – 2025
For Vesaire, I wrote about translating Infinite Jest—what it’s like to be inside a book that refuses to end, and how one learns to live with that refusal.

“İDÜK: Yazarının Kaleminden” – Kayıp Rıhtım – 2024
I wrote this piece to share the origins of my novella İDÜK—how it began as a scattered idea, the themes I wanted to explore, and the strange balancing act between satire and sincerity that runs through it.

“Bir Sanat Eseri İçinde Oyuncu Olmak: Disco Elysium” – 2021
Also for K24, this essay is a look into Disco Elysium—a game that bends narrative, identity, and player agency in ways that echo literature more than mechanics.

“Ejderhanızı Neden Terbiye Edemezsiniz? (Ya da Editörleri Kim Düzeltecek?)” – 2020
A piece for K24 where I reflect on the often-invisible labor of editing, the paradoxes of control, and what it really means to shape someone else’s sentence without taking it over.

GameShow (1998–2002)

Before anything else—before books, translation, film—I wrote for GameShow, Turkey’s cult PC gaming magazine of the late 1990s. I was just 17 when my first reviews, walkthroughs, and articles on fantasy and science fiction appeared in its pages. I kept writing for the magazine until I was 20.
GameShow wasn’t just about games—it was a strange and brilliant mix of sci-fi, fantasy lit, rock music, and youth culture, written mostly by young people who loved what they were writing about. It never got the financial support it deserved and eventually had to shut down, but it left a mark on everyone who read or wrote for it.
It was the first place that published my words. I was—and still am—proud to have been part of it.
